1-29-2020 East Columbia Avenue construction update

As of Tuesday January 28th, 2020, the Columbia Ave Sewer project is delayed until the groundwater can subside. The amount of groundwater and rain in the late few weeks had begun to prolong the project, and the quality of the work would have been affected.

Rather than prolong construction and detours, the plan is to finish up the mainline up to Miller Road from the wastewater treatment plant. This will include bringing laterals outside of the roadway and restoring the street. The mainline will be completed this week up to Miller Road, and the lateral extensions within the mainline section from Miller to the treatment plant will commence this week. The mainline will be completed starting in mid-spring and should take much less time to complete than currently projected.

Traffic patterns may switch for short term as laterals are installed. The new road will be utilized during construction hours of 7:30 to 5:00, when the traffic pattern will switch back to its original route along Columbia Ave for the remaining evening and through the night.

As we move forward installing the sewer line, do not forget that interruptions to construction do occur and these updates are critical for awareness. They impact our crew safety and resident planning. Please be aware that the project schedule can change from day to day as we do our best to provide a quality project in a timely manner.

Please be aware of construction activities at all times. This includes and is not limited to pipe crew member, flaggers, company vehicles and large equipment, dump trucks and their trailers and all pedestrian traffic.

Please obey all construction signing especially detour routes and flagger directions. Our flagging personnel are happy to help with any questions you may have. As the new detour starts, please be aware of all traffic patterns and traffic density in your area.
