Information on fireworks

• Legal fireworks in Oregon went on sale this week. Enforcement is in place to ensure retailers comply with their permits. Washington fireworks went on sale June 28. If it flies, explodes, travels more than 6' or 12" in the air, it is illegal in Oregon.
• Scappoose Police Department will have additional staffing on-duty during the July 4th weekend patrolling the City.
• Fire Danger is currently set at HIGH and only recreational campfires in approved areas are allowed.
• Fire Danger may be moved to EXTREME which would trigger enacting a total burn ban and the prohibition on any and all outdoor burning across all communities we protect.
• Tall grass and other hazards should be appropriately dealt with by the homeowner.
• We are monitoring the weather / fire conditions on a daily basis and staffing accordingly.
