Run for Neil - Scappoose 100
Run for Neil 1K-6K-10K - signup here!
Join us for a one-of-kind run through the parks and hills of Scappoose, Oregon. The 1K
route circles Veteran’s Park and is suitable for kids and walkers alike. The 6K run/walk is
mostly flat, capping with a short hill climb that ends with snow-capped mountain views.
The 10K route is the crown jewel. After splitting from the 6K flat portion, it meanders
through the wooded hillside of Scappoose, rewarding runners with the final 1K downhill
portion with views of Mt Hood, Rainier & St. Helens.
Proceeds from the run will go to the Neil Hoffmann Memorial Track project as a legacy
to a young man who was passionate about running and dreamed of making his home-town
a go-to location for track athletes.
Neil was a dedicated runner who had incredibly big dreams for Scappoose High School’s
track program as well as the greater community. Track is an all-inclusive sport. This is a
direct reflection of Neil, who was kind, thoughtful, and a well respected friend. Neil
showed his generosity by being the first to offer help, and the last to leave at the end of a
meet. Through his dedication and determination, Neil found great joy and peace while
running. This is something he desired for others as well. His dream was to have a facility
that would bring athletes and spectators of all ages to a place they could thrive and feel
proud to call their own. This project is for all of the Neils out there who dream of a place
where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather and call home.
