Vista Property Logging Notification
JUNE 22, 2018
NOTIFICATION ~ Logging operations will begin next week on the Vista property. The tentative operation dates will be June 25th thru the end of July. The City of Scappoose is requesting the public to stay off of the property until it is posted that operations are complete.
As you may recall due to recommendations within the Forest Stewardship Plan, the City recently applied for a Public Land Tree Removal Permit to allow for a salvage logging operation on the Vista tract. This will allow the City to recover the down trees and to clear existing roads and trails for enhanced management access and for fire protection. Additionally, a light thinning of dense conifer is proposed in order to promote healthy vigorous growth and reduce future fuels accumulations.
