Police Reserve Program (Restarting in 2026!)
The Scappoose Police Department is accepting applications for our reserve program. Please fill out an employment application and turn it into the Police Department.
The Purpose of the Reserve Program was established to supplement and assist regular sworn officers and their duties. This unit provides professional, sworn volunteer reserve officers who can augment regular staffing levels. All Applicants shall be required to meet and pass the same pre-employment procedures as regular police officers before appointment.
Police Reserve’s will assist regular officers in the enforcement of laws and in maintaining peace and order within the community.
Qualifications
- 21 years old or 21 years old at the time of hire
- A United States Citizen
- High School Graduate or G.E.D Equivalent
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license at the time of hire
- Must meet all Department of Public Safety Standards & Training (DPSST)
- Successfully pass a background investigation
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
What it takes to be hired as a Reserve officer
- Reserve officers must meet the same basic appointment requirements as that of a Regular Officer and go through the same selection process.
- Cost of the Physical and Psychological tests in the hiring process will be covered by the city.
- Reserve officers are volunteer personnel and may be dismissed at will.
